Abely Fashion is a leading manufacturer and exporter in the swimwear industry, specializing in providing high-quality swimsuits. One common complaint women have about swimsuits (both handmade and ready-to-wear) is the lack of bust support. Here are two effective methods to enhance bust support in swimsuits: adding boning and inserting cups. Even those who don't need extra support can benefit from these additions as they help the swimsuit stay in place and maintain its shape.
Boning provides additional support and helps swimsuits, especially bikini tops, keep their shape. This technique can be applied to almost any swimsuit during the making process.
1.Creating the Channel: After sewing the side seam of your swimsuit, sew another seam 1/4 inch from the side seam to create a vertical channel.
2.Inserting the Boning: Cut the plastic boning to size and round off the end. Insert it into the channel, ensuring the boning is shorter than the length of the unfinished channel to leave room for the elastic at the top and bottom.
3.One-Piece Swimsuits: For one-piece suits, the boning should be about 5 inches long. Sew the channel similarly, but extend the bottom of the channel by about 5 inches and secure it with a horizontal seam.
To add boning to an existing swimsuit:
1.Sew a swimsuit lining on the inside of the side seam.
2.Insert the boning and stitch the channel at the top and bottom.
3.Alternatively, cut a small slit in the lining at the top of the channel, insert the boning, and sew the seam closed.
Bra cups can provide significant support and shape to the bust area of swimsuits. They can be easily inserted during the construction of the swimsuit.
1.During Construction: Slide the purchased swimsuit cups between the suit fabric and lining during the construction process. Secure them in place after fitting the suit to your body.
2.Ready-to-Wear Swimsuits: Cut a small slit in the lining fabric, insert the cups, and secure them in place. You can either close the seam or leave it open, as the lining fabric will not come apart.
If you can't find suitable swimsuit cups or need extra support:
1.Cut an older, well-fitting bra in half and remove the straps.
2.Cut a piece of swimsuit lining and create an X in the middle.
3.Push the cups through the X and secure them in place.
4.Sew the lining to the cups, avoiding the steel ring, and use this piece in the normal swimsuit construction.
